Urban & Chic: Decorex Joburg celebrated the New Fusion in 2009 during one of the biggest Decorex shows so far!

Bedson Timbers had heads turning at the last Decorex 2009 JHB show with partner, Timberlife. Who would think it is recession, or are the financial situation finally changing? Our customers are building new homes, developing extended entertainment areas and refurbishing. Thus Decorex in Gauteng, Gallagher Estate, was just the place to be over the long weekend in August (6 to 10) Bedson and the Timberlife team made sure to position our flooring species and maintenance of all timber, in Hall 5, where most of the top flooring suppliers and installers positioned themselves.

Decorex Joburg 2009 brought you the ‘New Fusion’; a melting pot of modern and focused, urban and rural, the designed and the discovered. You could see how the exotic merges effortlessly with the close to home, the linear and the lustrous, the organic and the ornate.

The show theme this year ‘the New Fusion’, was about combining bold contemporary, urban-style pieces with heirloom lace; merging quirky green products and handmade home-grown pieces with antiques and have investment pieces meet up with revived finds from the attic or a jumble sale. Bedson flooring suited all green aspects and brought back the old tradition and the modern look at the same time. Our exotic hardwoods and wide variety just offered mesmerizing options to new customers.

Now in its 16th year, the show is the definitive mix of the emerging and the established, manufacturers and suppliers – large and small. Trade professionals and consumers could indulge in the haute and the handmade; the new simple and the avant-garde. The show was a celebration of Joburg’s most urban and chic spaces by talented style shapers, trend makers and décor creators, with Plascon as show sponsor and DStv as media partner.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS:

Plascon, paint with imagination: Decorex Joburg lifted the lid on the hip and trendy colours with the revealing of the new Plascon Colour forecast for 2010. Bedson used Divine Green in the stand design.

Sanlam Dream Rooms: This exquisite collection of high-end décor brands, lifestyle stores, fabric houses and interior decorators merged trends, palettes, materials and patterns with a contemporary edge. These inspirational concepts brought new benchmarks in interior design, which could be translated freely in the visitor’s own decorating style. Solid wooden floors were seen everywhere in the latest design trends where style and luxury stood out.

Pick n Pay Living Green pavilion: Design and décor with a conscience have become mainstream, detoxing our lives and adopting a green attitude as a way of life. Showcasing green solutions – and setting the example by our green exhibition practises, the new “How Green is my Village” project raised the bar with aesthetically pleasing and affordable eco-caring solutions. Bedson, who highlighted our international forests and greening for the next 300 years, underlined this theme.

South African Handmade Collection: The country’s definitive craft expo, aimed at local and international trade buyers, were run by the dti to bring crafters a vital step closer to becoming a successful local entrepreneur and exporter. Ranging from baskets woven from grass or recycled plastic, highly collectible high-design handmade ceramic gallery pieces to functional ware, all show the handmade mark of its maker.

It is amidst these collections of creative art and décor where Bedson’s flooring and decking range took its position with pride. Everything else could just show off against the backdrop of an exquisite solid wooden floor of South American Louro Preto (amongst the many we stock.)

Bedson Timbers decided to go bigger and better next year, involving a well-known installer such as Eaglewood and enlarging our noticeable impact in all markets of décor, design and flooring solutions both indoor and outdoor!
